Captain Venerable would be a rich man with a robust business if he was willing to not look too closely at the flight plan, the cargo, the passengers. But, he couldn’t, as an honorable man, pretend nothing shady was going on.

Instead, he flew sick kids to hospitals, reunited families, brought veterans home, delivered supplies to devastated disaster zones. All for free.

Occasionally, he took paying jobs to fund his charitable duties. Captain V. was flying his way back to heaven. When angels lose their wings, it doesn’t mean they can’t fly.

Written for Just Jot it January, January 7th (robust suggested by Michael at Morpethroad) and January 8th (honorable suggested by Tasha at Corner Of Confessions) and Friday Fictioners, January 8, 2016.
