He jumped up on the map filing cabinet as if everything was the same between us; as if the sight of his cool blue eyes, scraggly smile, loose tank, baggy cargo shorts, tan legs, and ancient boots wouldn’t pull at my heart and other parts.

Silence was awkward, I babbled, a blush being to glow on my cheeks: “See you still don’t wear socks or tie up your laces like a normal human being.”

He glowed stroboscopically with mesmerizing light flashing around the room, “Remember, Ginger, I’m not human – you used to find that extremely interesting.”
